About the Chef
A Washington, DC native, Chef April isn’t just a chef and entrepreneur she’s a writer, motivator, and artist . Coming from a family of chefs, her passion for culinary started at an early age. One of her greatest influences as a child was her grandmother, watching her cook in the kitchen was a pleasurable joy that inspired her Mantra “it’s not just food, it’s love”. Watching her grandmother and family prepare meals wasn’t just about making great food, it was about creating an experience with lots of love!
Chef April started her culinary career in Washington, DC at B-Smiths restaurant in Union Station as a line cook where she was motivated and influenced by chefs like B Smith, Karida Celestine, Curtis Byrd, and Rahman Harper. As a chef I was moved by not just creating great food that I was familiar with, but also learning and developing my skills with confidence, integrity, and quality. After leaving Bsmith Restaurant Chef April became a Sous chef and from their the sky was the limit
Throughout Chef April career she’s had the pleasure of preparing meals for senators, congress members, former presidents, Vice Presidents, recording artists and many more.
Chef April is a multi-disciplined classically trained chef who specializes in southern cuisine with a modern touch, able to develop signature dishes that aren’t just delicious but caters to the taste and health of her guest, with attention to dietary restrictions and needs. Chef April is able to create delicious health-conscious meals as well as hearty cuisines that are inspired by her client’s preference.
Reign’s Kitchen is just the beginning of what chef April has to offer, from meal prep, catered events, menu planning, and budgeting. Reign’s kitchen doesn’t just deliver great food she gives experiences, rest assured that you will be presented with quality food, made with fresh ingredients, and lots of love.
